century, to take an active part into four great events which have disrupted the world : The
American Revolution, The 1789 French Revolution, The
Fall of Napoléon and The Revolution of 1830"... his man always aroused controversy, both envied and hated by his
contemporaries, he was an obstinate republican, a fierce reformer and a very engaged
idealist and humanist..
riginally, he created the
famous "tricolor cockade" which became later the French national
symbol. In 1789 he made adopted the first European Declaration of Human and
Citizen rights :
"Nature made all human beings free
and equal... All human beings are born with inalienable and impresciptible rights..."
In regards to this declaration he dedicate
all his life to struggle for freedom and for the respect of human rights.
With passion and determination, he claimed :
- Freedom for oppressed people by absolute forms of governement,
- an entire freedom for protestant worship,
- the abolition of slavery,
- the establishment of a constitution respectfull of human rights...
