A weekend in the 18th century - 23 & 24th of July

Discover how life was in the 18th century in the village of Lafayette through animations programmed during the weekend by the association La Belle Journée, with, on Saturday evening the choreographic show "La Fayette" provided by the troop The Artist.

There will be the reconstruction of a military camp with its soldiers, the flags of all the regiments that fought in America alongside Lafayette, its canteen girls, its military hospital, its apothecary, its blacksmiths, its nobles around the Marquis de Lafayette... Several musical moments throughout the weekend by the fifes and drums of Aunis and Saintonge will be programmed.

Free workshops for children: fire and iron with the blacksmiths, stone carving by a master sculptor, healing by the herbalist, knife and axe throwers, discovery of painting by a watercolorist, writing with a pen by the master copyist, shadow puppets, candle making by the monk of the convent, and of course recruitment for military combat training !

Catering on the spot proposed by the association La Belle Journée : meals cooked in cauldrons, "galettes du marquis" for the children, drinks...

SHOW "LA FAYETTE": Theatrical and choreographic adventure that honors La Fayette who bravely defended the values of democracy. His story is told through dance, voice-overs, special effects and video projections. Choreographic show created in 2017 in Bordeaux by Christine Jeannin, former dancer at the Bordeaux Opera, and performed by eight professional dancers gathered in The Artist troop.
